Audio Help

If you have any problems accessing or listening to the audio materials on this site, try the solutions below, and please contact us if the problem persists...

Listening directly from the website

Most of the audios available here can be played through an Audio Player embedded directly in the webpage. Here's a working example:

Test Audio (0:08)

If you don't see the audio gadget just above
this text, see solution #2 below.

Click on the black triangle to start playback. The audio will begin playing as soon as the first few seconds have been downloaded. (The thin line along the bottom edge indicates download progress.)

While playing, you can adjust the volume by clicking or dragging the control on the left side of the player, and you can move back or forward in time by clicking or dragging in the central title area of the player. (Note: You may have to wait for the file to download before you can "fast-forward" through the audio

Downloading and saving audios

The embedded Audio Player above downloads the audio file to a temporary location on your computer, and it's discarded after you're finished listening. However, most of the audios on EnjoyParenting.com can be downloaded and saved for use when you're not connected to the internet.

Once saved, you can transfer the audio files to your iPod or other MP3 player, so you can listen while away from your computer. (See your MP3 player's user manual for help transferring the files.) You can also burn the audios to CDs using programs like Windows Media or InfraRecorder for Windows, or iTunes for Mac.*

*Note: Filesharing or other unauthorized copying of the audio files is prohibited. If you want to share an audio with a friend, you can send them the URL (web address) of the page where you found it. If a paid membership is required to access the page, please contact us for information on how to give your friend(s) a trial membership.

To download an audio, right-click the "download mp3" link (or Ctrl+click on older Macs) to open a pop-up menu. Depending on which web browser you use, you then select "Save Target As..." (Internet Explorer), "Save Link As..." (Firefox), or "Download Linked File" (Safari), from the pop-up menu. You can practice using the download link below:

If the Audio Player isn't working...

1. Make sure the sound on your computer is working. Are the speakers off or muted? Does it make other sounds that you can hear?

2. The embedded Audio Player requires the Adobe Flash Player plugin. 98% of all computers already have the required plugin installed, but you can make sure you have it HERE.

3. Are you using a slower (dial-up) connection? If so, your connection may be too slow to keep up with the audio data stream. There are two solutions:

(a) Download the audio file first, and then double-click the file to play it in your computer's default media player (e.g., Windows Media Player or iTunes), or transfer the file to an MP3 player (e.g., iPod. See above.)

(b) Using the Audio Player, click the Play button to start the audio stream, and then click it again to pause the player. Wait a couple of minutes while the audio data preloads, then click the play button again.
